Full Description:

Start your adventure with a visit to one of Ghana’s most significant historical landmarks: Elmina Castle or Cape Coast Castle. Both castles have profound historical significance, playing central roles in the transatlantic slave trade. Elmina Castle, built by the Portuguese in the 15th century, and Cape Coast Castle, originally constructed by the Swedes in the 17th century, stand as poignant reminders of this dark chapter in history. As you explore the dungeons where enslaved Africans were held in appalling conditions before being shipped across the Atlantic, you will be struck by the gravity of these sites. Elmina Castle is the oldest European building in sub-Saharan Africa, and Cape Coast Castle is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. These castles are both places of reflection and tribute to the millions who suffered through slavery.

Next, we will visit Kakum National Park, a breathtaking rainforest reserve that spans over 375 square kilometers. The park is home to incredible biodiversity, including rare species like the Diana monkey and bongo antelope. The highlight of Kakum National Park is its renowned canopy walkway, a series of suspended bridges high above the forest floor. Stretching 333 meters and rising as high as 40 meters, the walkway provides unparalleled views of the rainforest below. It’s a thrilling experience that offers a unique perspective on the park’s vibrant ecosystem. For those who want more adventure, the park also features hiking trails through the lush rainforest, providing further opportunities to spot wildlife and experience the peaceful tranquility of nature.

After the morning’s adventures, enjoy a delicious lunch at the Ridge Royal Hotel, where you’ll be treated to a wonderful selection of Ghanaian cuisine. This relaxing stop provides the perfect opportunity to recharge, reflect on the day’s experiences, and enjoy the culinary delights of Ghana.
